“Sunshine in Chicago makes me sad
My band played here a lot in the nineties when we had
A lot of female fans and fuck they all were cute
Now I just sign posters for guys in tennis shoes.”
Well what do you know? I consider myself as a person that knows the weird and wonderful world of music. About 20 years ago I started to listen to the band Red House Painters and I have been a fan since.
When Red House Painters called it the quits I continued to listen to the brain behind the band Mark Kozelek who released a number of solo albums, as Red House Painters great albums too.
Then things became quite… or so I thought. Because just the other day I was informed that Mark Kozelek has formed another band, Sun Kil Moon and that they had been around for quite some time, such a nice and welcomed surprise.
At the same time it made me question my own knowledge about music, how could I have missed Sun Kil Moon when I have been listening to Red House Painters and Mark Kozelek? Thinking twice this made me realize that this is the beauty of music, discovering new groups, new artists and new songs so instead of curse the fact that I have not listened to Sun Kil Moon until now I am grateful that I have finally discovered them.
Sun Kil Moon – Sunshine in Chicago is found on the record “Among the leaves” released in 2012.
